Shenzhen, China (October 4,2020) — China Customs stopped and seized a batch of replica luxury bags worth $7.9 million in cost value at the Shenzhen Airport during a controlled sting operation 2 days ago.
The astounding value of the bags are due to the fact that the bags seized are being of Lushentic grade — a new type of counterfeit grade that boast to be the “exact” quality as their counterpart originals.
Along with the confiscation, two suspects were reprimanded for further questioning when their contact details were found to be in majority of the packaged shipment.
During the interrogation of the suspects, it was found out that they were in charge of dispatching lushentic grade bag replicas of well-known luxury brands from a show unit in Guangzhou, whereby the local police has also raided and further seized some remaining counterfeit merchandise at the premises.
(Mandarin)“The quality of the counterfeits are simply amazingly identical to the original. We had a team of authenticity specialists to inspect the seized good to verify that they are in fact counterfeits and not smuggled goods, and it took the team almost 70 hours to be able to confirm that some of them were indeed very clever imitations in terms of leather quality, metal accessories, even up to the packaging itself” Chief Inspector Wang Jin said during an interview with Fashion News Asia.
Lushentic Grade Replicas
Lushentic grade replicas have only emerged on the global market since 2019 before the covid-19 outbreak. China has been known to manufacture high quality imitation bags since more than 10 years ago; it was only recently that a few major factories in Guangzhou have teamed up to hire pioneer leather and metal craftsmen from original factories of various luxury brands in Italy, France and Spain to upgrade their imitation expertise and quality.
It was also known that lushentic bag manufacturers now have access to the same apparel and leather materials as the original brands and hence, there could be no telling what lushentic grade imitations can eventually achieve in the near future. Selling for only a fraction of the original (typically $400–500 per bag), the lushentic industry could seriously hurt the genuine fashion industry in the long run as it was known that the actual cost of making even the highest quality of bags are merely less than 10% of the retail price itself.
Police Inspector Wang Jin advised the public to “support authenticity” and “respect the designers” as the original brands have invested a huge amount of capital in marketing and designer costs that are built into the price of the bag.
Some netizens however, do view the lushentic manufacturers simply as “a problem solver” for those who wish to own a luxury bag at simply an affordable price.
It bears down to your opinion. Lushentic bags, yay or nay?
